Inter-college Football tourney of JU
Science College, PG Arts, MBS, ASCOMS in QFs

JAMMU, Oct 9: Four teams representing GGM Science College, Post Graduate (PG) Departments of Arts, Mahant Bachiter Singh (MBS) College and Acharya Shri Chandra College of Medical Sciences (ASCOMS) today qualified for the quarterfinals of the ongoing inter-college men's Football Tournament at University of Jammu ground, here.
In the first pre-quarterfinal of the day, ASCOMS trounced PG Law and Sciences by a solitary goal. The only goal of the match came through Sayed Shan. The GGM Science College also found berth in the last eight stages of the competition on getting walkover Government Degree College (GDC) Thanamandi.
The competitive side of MBS College registered a 2-1 win against MIET to reach quarterfinals stages. Jeevan Singh opened the account for MBS College in the 20th minute. But the lead was equalised by Sheikh Mustafa in the 28th minute of the first half. However, MBS College again went ahead with Arun Namgyal netting the ball for second goal.
Meanwhile, in another scheduled pre-quarterfinal game, PG Arts defeated equally good Government SPMR College of Commerce 6-1 in tie-breaker. Earlier, in the given time the match ended in 1-1 draw. Atrunpal Singh scored the goal for PG in the 15th minute and the lead was equalized by Rahul Jasrotia in the 30th minute.
Later, in the tie-breaker the match remained undecided thereby forcing the organizers to go for tie-breaker wherein PG Arts emerged winners by successfully converting all the five penalties into goal.
From PG Arts, Ayuesh, Anurag, Varun, Suraj and Tarunpal Singh were successful in tie-breaker while Karan, Dharam, Stanzin and Navjeet netted the ball from Commerce College.
Today's matches were officiated by penal of technical officials including Gagan Kumar, Ravi Kumar, Pardeep Kotoch, Vijay Kumar and Hrman Jeet Singh. Prominent among those who witnessed the matches, Ramesh Sharma (incharge PTI Campus), Narayani Jamwal, Jai Bharat, Raj Kumar and Dr. Brij Baloria.
