| Speaker orders suspension of five security personnel | | I have issued orders to frisk MLAs also: Lone | | Early Times Report
srinagar, Oct 9: Assembly Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone today suspended five security personnel in connection with yesterday's incident when three youths jumped into the member's area of the house shouting slogans.
The Assembly witnessed unruly scenes yesterday as three youths unfurled the flag of a newly-floated party and shouted slogans.
They were overpowered by Assembly marshals and placed under arrest on the orders of Speaker.
Lone ordered the suspension of five security personnel in connection with the incident today, officials said.
The youth, who had got passes on the request of expelled BJP member Jagdish Raj Sapolia to witness the proceedings from the public gallery, unfurled the flag of a newly-floated party J-K Democratic Front. They also raised slogans demanding implementation of employment policy in the State.
Meanwhile, the Speaker also declared that there would be no compromise with the security of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone today said he has ordered that if necessary MLAs should also be frisked.
"I cannot compromise with the security of the House," Lone said after Independent member Engineer Sheikh Abdul Rashid alleged that the MLAs were also frisked and their Personnel Assistants (PA) not allowed to enter the House by the security personnel.
He said, "After yesterday's incident, we have to take all measures to prevent such incidents in future.
When Rashid protested and said they are elected members still they are being frisked and their identity cards checked, the Speaker said he has given orders to security personnel to conduct frisking of all MLAs if necessary.
"If security force suspect anything they have orders to conduct frisking,' the Speaker told the members some of whom were shouting that despite passes their PAs were not being allowed to enter the House.
The Speaker said he has issued passes and has the powers to cancel them.
Without naming Rashid, he said, "How can we trust a member who take oath under the Constitution and still demand plebiscite in the House, the Speaker said adding frisking will be done to everyone.
A ruling National Conference (NC) member from border constituency of Gurez Nazir Ahmad Gurezi wanted to know if the chair had said in anger that every MLA will be frisked, the Speaker said there was no question of any anger but security of the House will not be compromised.
"I have said in clear terms that if security force personnel deployed outside the House doubt anybody they will conduct frisking," he said adding security is for whole House not for him (Speaker).
When other members also joined Mr Rashid and wanted the chair to allow PAs to enter the House, the Speaker said he has allowed the PAs of members to enter the House but after proper checking and frisking.
Later, Mr Rashid walked out from the House saying something which could not be heard.
The media persons too had to face very tough time to enter the House as besides frisking, their passes issued by the Assembly secretariat and identity cards were checked properly before allowing them in.
