244 trainees become proud members of BSF family in Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 11: Emotional scenes were witnessed today when 244 trainees became proud members of Border Security Force (BSF) family after 22 weeks of rigorous training. The colourful Attestation cum-Passing Out Parade of the trainees was held at BSF Subsidiary Training Centre, Humhama in the central Kashmir district of Badgam. Inspector General (IG), BSF, Kashmir, took salute at highly disciplined and well turned out parade of trainees, including 85 from Rajasthan, 51 from Bihar, 32 from Uttar Pradesh, 18 from Haryana, six from Jammu and Kashmir and 52 from other states. The trainees were administered oath before the parade. Immediately after the parade was over, the BSF personnel greeted each other besides senior officers were seen greeting them.
"We feel proud to become the members of the BSF family, We will not hesitate to made supreme sacrifice in the defence of the country," he added. A senior BSF officer, who trained these BSF trainees for 22 weeks said they were put through various dimensions and aspects of training, involving physical fitness and mental robustness, effective use of arms, map reading and maintaining utmost discipline. He said besides, they were also imparted training in field engineering, field craft, minor tactics, anti-terrorism, counter insurgency, commando operations and respect for human rights so that they become true Bordermen and carry on the legacy of excellence of the BSF. Subsidiary Training Centre was established on June 10,1990 to impart basic training to recuits and cater to the training needs of BSF in Kashmir. He said this centre has so far trained 11,896 recruits since its inception, which included 1,881 Kashmiris youths, including surrendered militants who are now performing their duty in various parts of the country. The parade was commanded by Head Constable (HC) Rajender Kumar. All round first award was won by HC Neeraj Kumar and Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Rakesh Mehra, Best shot to HC Yuvraj Singh and ASI Sandeep Kumar, best physical endurance HC Vijay Meena and ASI Anil Kumar.
