CB produces challan against fraudster, GMC officials

jammu, Oct 11: Crime Branch Jammu has produced supplementary challan in Case FIR No. 34/1998 u/s 420,467,468,471,120-B/RPC r/w Sec. 5(2) PC Act at P/S Satwari against the accused persons Darshan Lal Motton and the then four GMC Officials.
Brief facts of the case are that on 01.04.1998 ASI Brahm Dev Singh the then posted to P/S Satwari while on patrolling in Narwal Payeen area came to know that one Darshan Lal Motton son of Jaimal Ram resident of Salerh Tehsil R.S. Pura was putting up in the house of one Bansi Lal as a tenant.
"He had purchased an Esteem Car and posed himself as a doctor and sometimes an advocate. He was in possession of a forged Identity Card and cheated a number of persons by preparing forged documents. Besides this he fraudulently processed the case of one Toshi Devi showing himself as her real brother for the grant of Medical Aid from Medical Aid Trust, Chief Minister Secretariat by forging the name of one Savitri Devi resident of Kalakote who was admitted to GMC Hospital, Jammu as a Cancer patient.
On receipt of this information, the said ASI sent a docket to P/S Satwari for the registration of a case and accordingly, on the instant case was registered in Police Station, Satwari. During the course of investigation, search of the rented accommodation of said Darshan Lal was conducted and during search one fake Identity card of Darshan Lal issued by Dr Jasbir Singh the then Superintendent, GMC Hospital, Jammu, case summary and discharge record of patient namely Savitri Devi resident of Kalakote were seized. Later on, the case was transferred to Crime Branch, Jammu for further investigation and the same was accordingly challaned in the court of law on 06.11.2004.
Vide order dated 08.05.2006 passed by Sessions Judge, Jammu directed to clear observations and accordingly, the case was investigated thoroughly and after getting some documents examined through FSL Jammu, section 5(2) PC Act Svt. 2006 was added and the case was finally concluded as challan and supplementary challan was presented today before the Court of Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Jammu against the accused Darshan Lal and others identified namely as Dr RK Raina, the then Principal GMC, Jammu, Dr Jasbir Singh then Superintendent, GMC Hospital, Jammu, Dr SD Bassi, the then Assistant Professor Medicine GMC, Jammu, Chandan Singh Cashier the then posted to GMC, Jammu for their alleged involvement in said swindling case.
