| JKDF continues protest demanding release of detained cadre | | Activists cane-charged, booked for holding protest without permission and assaulting ICPP Rehari | | SUMIT SHARMA
Jammu, Oct 13: A large number Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Front (JKDF) activists including some women today again were cane charged by police near Maheshpora Chowk when they held a protest against the arrest of 3 party youth leaders who storm inside the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on 8th of this month. Concerned Police has lodged FIR against them for assault on SI and protesting without permission from district administration.
As per police sources in the ensuing protest, besides some activists of JKDF received injuries Sub Inspector (SI) Neelam Saini, In- charge Police Post (I/c PP) Rehari also got injured during an alleged assault by the protestors. The injured I/c PP Rehari reportedly was hospitalized at GMC &H Jammu, sources added.
They added that the I/c PP received injuries when she made a bid to stop JKDF demonstrators protesting in area falling under her jurisdiction and that too without permission here today. Police also has lodged FIR against some protestors for assaulting the SI and staging protest without permission under different section.
An eyewitness from Mahesh Pura Chowk said the agitated party workers were raised slogans against Omar Abdullah government for its failure to provide jobs to unemployed youths of the state.
" Protestors were condemning the Omar governments' attitude and accused it (Omar led government) for patronizing stone palters by providing them the jobs while ignoring unemployed educated youths, he added.
The protestors were demanding early release of all the three youths presently lodged in Shaheed Gunj police station in Srinagar. Pertinent to mention here that JKDF is on the binge of protest since its three cadre were detained in valley when they allegedly tried to create ruckus in assembly proceedings on Oct 8 while some students organizations from GGM Science College, MAM College and Jammu University too have staged protest in favour of release of the three detained youths.
While talking to the media persons, Veena Khanna said that the aim and objective of organizing protest is to support the cause of three youths who jumped inside the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly to raise his voice of unemployed youths and to seek justice for them. "I ask what is the sin of these three youths --- If Omar Abdullah can forgive the person who hurdle shoe at him, than what is the fault of these youths that the government booked them under stringent laws," she said
She said that the protest of the party activist is peaceful and police without any provocation use force to disburse them. She however said that party will continue its protest till all the three youths will be released.
She condemn the attitude of police towards them carder of the party and warns that JKDF will intensified its protest in case their demands could not be accepted. She said several women activist of the party got injured in police action.
It is worthwhile to mention that three youths identified as Manish Khujaria District Youth President JKDF, Ambadkar Gupta General Secretary JKDF Jammu and Sunny Mahajan from Udhampur storm inside the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on 8th of October 2012 when the Autumn session of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly was in progress and create the ruckus inside the Assembly over growing unemployment problem in State.
