DODA, Oct 19: Young Star Cricket Club (YSCC) Doda defeated Sports Cricket Club (SCC) Bhalessa by three runs in super over to lift the CRPF Public Friendly Twenty-20 Tournament played which was organised by 76 Bn of the CRPF at Sports Stadium, here today. Earlier batting first, after winning the toss, SCC Bhalessa bowled out for 98 runs in 17.3 overs. Mubashir and Firdous Khandey were the top scorers, who contributed 25 and 17 runs to the total respectively. From YSCC Doda, Waseem took three wickets while Sohan Singh, Asif Ali Dev and Waseem Raja shared two wickets each. While chasing the target, YSCC Doda too failed to overhaul the opponent total and exhausted their quota of 20 overs at the same score of 98 losing eight wickets. Yasir Dar remained highest scorer with 17 runs while Manzoor Batt, Waseem and Riaz contributed 16, 12 and 12 runs respectively. From SCC Bhalessa, Arif Rather and Firdous Khandey took two wickets each. To decide fate of the final, both the team were asked to play the super over. In super over, YSCC Doda made five runs, which, in reply, SCC Bhalessa failed to chase, thus lost the match by three runs. Later Waseem of YSCC was awarded with man of the match and best batsman titles. Firdous Khandey of Sports Cricket Club Bhalessa was declared man of the series for his all round performance. In the final and valedictory function, District Development Commissioner (DDC) Doda Farooq Ahmed Khan was the chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also the individual prizes. The winners also got Rs 10,000 cash prize while runners-up team awarded with Rs 5,000 along with trophy. The ADDC Doda, Ghulam Nabi Balwan, Commandant 76 Bn CRPF, Taranjit Singh, Deputy Commandant 76 Bn, Sukhvir Singh, Medical Superintendent DH Doda, Dr. Farid Ahmed Bhat, Lt Col Navin Bindre of 10 RR, Medical Officer 76 Bn CRPF, Dr Supinder Singh and Manager YSCC Doda Mehboob Kraipak were the special guests. Speaking to the gathering, chief guest appreciated the efforts of 76 Bn CRPF for conducting such tournament in the district which will go a long way in encouraging the sporting talent among the youth. |
