Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 3: The opposition political parties of Jammu region including Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) are all set to "welcome" NC-Congress ruling coalition on November 5th (first day of opening of Civil Secretariat) with protest rallies and dharnas, here in the winter capital.
Besides political parties, several social organizations and various unions of government employees are also chalking out their respective strategies to hold demonstrations in support of their demands and alleged failure of the state government on number of fronts. However, main opposition Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) has decided to stay neutral and calm on the first day of the opening of Civil Secretariat. Sources in PDP indicated that "party patron and former chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has decided to hold rallies and protests on other dates as he is not interested to hold collective protests." "We will be holding protests but later as the dates for the same have not been finalized as yet," said a senior leader of PDP on the condition of anonymity.
"The senior leaders of State unit of BJP have directed to reach out to the masses and garner support of general public in support of protest rally organized on Monday morning. BJP State unit president Shamsher Singh Manhas is personally monitoring the exercise of party leaders," revealed insiders in BJP further adding that "the party leaderships wants to make the protest rally as show of strength against the Government."
"As a part of strategy, the party leadership is holding nukkad meetings in different parts and highlighting the failure of the government in holding inflation. They are also pointing out various
alleged scams involving ministers besides rampant corruption ever since NC-Congress took over the reign in 2008," shared sources in BJP. "Omar Abdullah led coalition has not fulfilled even a single promise it made to common masses. Why government failed to hold election to BDCs? Why it has failed to announce Municipal bodies polls in past three years. Instead, skyrocketing prices of most of the commodities used for household purposes and imposition of more tax are some of the 'gifts' which his government has given so far to the people of the state," are among other allegations being leveled by BJP leadership.
Similarly, JKNPP leadership has also decided to hold a sit-in outside Raj Bhawan here. JKNPP would be demanding dismissal of NC-Congress coalition and holding fresh election. Newly announced party president and sitting MLA, from Ramnagar Constituency, Harsh Dev Singh would head the dharna. Chairman of the party Harsh Dev Singh ,MLAs Balwant Mankotia and Yashpal Kundal would also address the party workers. (Hitting govt)
