JAMMU, Nov 6: The Jammu Lawyers today organized Eid, Diwali, Gurupurab Milan at Hari Niwas Palace in which Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Ghulam Nabi Azad, was the chief guest. Galaxy of intellectuals, political leaders, prominent citizens and people from all walks of society were present. Azad congratulated the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of Eid, Diwali and Gurupurab and said that though once again on a non-political platform he would be here to meet Jammuites under the banner of Eid-Diwali-Gurupurab Milan, organized by a big section of lawyers' community. Eid-Diwali Milan is being organized for past couple of years in which Ghulam Nabi Azad always remained the chief guest. Azad said that he is participating in Diwali-Eid Milan since long when he was Minister in the government of Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and Narsimha Rao. He said that it is purely a non-political platform and everyone should participate irrespective of any political or religious consideration. He said that such occasions further cement bonds of brotherhood, communal harmony and national integration and we should optimally utilize these events for creating a harmonious society. Azad said that Jammu is privileged with its unique composite culture where people of all religions live in complete peace, brotherhood and tranquility. He extended warm greetings to the people of Jammu on the auspicious occasion of Eid, Diwali, Gurupurab and Christmis. The gathering included lawyers, representatives of Chamber of Commerce and Industry, several social and traders' associations besides prominent members of civil society. He lauded the efforts of lawyers particularly President Bar Association, B.S. Slathia for organizing this mega social event. On the occasion, Azad honoured, social activists, advocates, political leaders and prominent citizens for their exceptional contribution towards the society who included Former Deputy Chief Minister, Mangat Ram Sharma, Darshan Kour Widow of Martyrs, S.
