Everybody has a mobile phone nowa days, from the young ones to the old ones. Of course they don't have the same model of mobile phone but at least everybody owns a mobile phone. It's very important if we want to remain in a permanent contact with all the persons who surround us having one such device. The mobile phone is without doubt the best communication instrument. People use it in all their activities, from their work to their personal life. But have we ever thought in context to the high school students. Once you have a mobile phone it's very difficult to leave your place without your mobile phone, and this also happens with high school students. They take their mobile phones with them at school although they aren't allowed with mobile phone during classes. They should turn them off, but this rarely happens. It's annoying. This process does not only disturb teacher but also colleagues who are probably interested in what their teacher is telling them. So, the best thing you should do if you want to take your mobile phone with you at school is to turn it off during classes.
But this is just one effect of mobile phones in studies of high school students. We all know that one can use a mobile phone in many situations, including copying at different tests.
The effects of mobile phones in studies of high school students have been intensely debated. On a survey done, the majority of professors said, "Using mobile phones in studies are an activity which disturbs the students' attention from the lesson. Nobody denies the positive effects of mobile phones. We all know that we can use them every time.
The student can be contacted any time by his parent and you can contact him in emergency situations. And we all know that in order to be accepted, socially speaking, the student must have a mobile phone as performed as his colleagues and even more if it is possible."
Another negative effect of mobile phones which they added, "Students use them to cheat at their exams. They rather go out and not study for their exams, because they can count on their mobile phones. There are many ways of cheating at an exam. One of them is by saving in your massages the solutions of your exam's questions and then all you have to do is to open the folder with the messages and start copying. Another solution is to copy with the help of a Hands Free. This one is the most used one. It doesn't require any effort. In order to copy all you must have is a mobile phone, a Hands Free and a friend to dictate you." A separate survey found that about three-quarters of students said, "Carrying a cell phone while walking alone at night made them feel somewhat or a lot safer. Women reported feeling a greater increase in safety carrying a cell phone than did male students, probably because they felt more vulnerable in the first place". As a result, more women than men said, "If they had a cell phone they would be willing to walk somewhere after dark that they would normally not go". Cell phone users should also consider adding emergency numbers to the "speed dial" functions of their phone so it will be easier to summon help if needed. |
