India Is Enemy, Pakistan Is Not
Farooq, Omar, Delhi allowed Kamaal to go scot-free

JAMMU, Nov 14: CM Omar Abdullah's uncle and NC president and Union Minister Farooq Abdullah's brother, Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal, on Monday only restated in more clear terms what he, like others in the party, really believes in and, hence, highly disturbing, but not surprising. He denounced India as the "enemy" and Pakistan a friend. He said Pakistan is not the enemy of Kashmiri Muslims. "Pakistan stands for no-war pact with India, New Delhi is not" and that "it is New Delhi which is the root cause of all the troubles facing the sub-continent and Kashmir," he also said. He, in addition, held the Army and security forces responsible for the continuation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in the state, especially Kashmir Valley, and asserted that the Army and the paramilitary forces are conducting themselves in a manner that helps them use the AFSPA against innocent Kashmiri Muslims.
It was expected that New Delhi will rise from slumber and book secessionist and seditionist Mustafa Kamaal under section 124(A) of Ranbir Dand Bidhi and bring him to justice, but it did not happen. The Congress only snubbed him mildly and stated that "Jammu & Kashmir is an integral part of India" and that "such a remark by any Indian is extremely unfortunate". It was indeed a meek response. Paradoxically, the BJP also reacted almost in a similar fashion. BJP national spokesperson, instead of asking the Union Government to arrest him and initiate legal proceedings against him under the law of the land dealing with seditionists, urged the NC leadership to "take disciplinary action against Mustafa Kamaal". The BJP did dumbfound the nation by leaving everything to the care of NC leaders, including Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah, whose own views on Jammu & Kashmir are highly questionable. In fact, both Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah have umpteen times questioned the Delhi's otherwise constitutional presence in the state. Both have from time to time demanded semi-independence and urged New Delhi to conciliate Pakistan. Omar Abdullah even tendered an apology for the actions of his grandfather and he did so on the Pakistani soil itself. His objective, obviously, was to cultivate Pakistan.
As for the founder of NC and Farooq Abdullah's father Sheikh Abdullah, he had been arrested on the charge of sedition in 1953 for airing views similar to the ones aired by Mustafa Kamaal at Kishtwar on last Monday while addressing party workers. Besides, he founded Plebiscite Front to achieve independence from India. The Plebiscite Front remained active for 22 years and was dissolved only in 1975, when the then Prime Minister brought down the Congress government in the state and handed over state power to the deflated and seditionist Sheikh Abdullah. The fact of the matter is that the NC is a party of seditionists having no faith in the Indian Constitution and Indian political system. It is a different story that both the Congress and the BJP never mind sharing power with the NC.
It would not be out of place to mention here that Mustafa Kamal is conducting himself as per an evolved strategy. There is no doubt that he enjoys the backing of one and all in the NC. Both Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah are not really displeased with Mustafa Kamaal. Leave aside the statement of Farooq Abdullah that the statement made by his brother was "irresponsible". Also leave aside Omar Abdullah's two tweets which had no substance whatever. His tweets read like this: "Funny thing is I don't need anyone to make things difficult for me when I have relatives to do it for me…They say never work with animals and children. I think it's safe to add relatives to that list as well".
That Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah are not really displeased with Mustafa Kamaal could be seen from the fact that they did not throw him out him of the party. However, the question to be asked from the Jammu-based NC ministers and leaders is: Do they also share the views of Mustafa Kamaal? They need to answer this question. Similarly, it is also time for the people of Jammu Pradesh and other patriotic forces in the state to rise as one man and defeat comprehensively the seditionists like Mustafa Kamaal. They should not depend either on New Delhi or the Congress and the BJP. For, New Delhi and the Congress and the BJP have no definite policy towards Kashmir and those attacking the institution of Indian state.
