| Now a Pro-India salvo from Dr Kamaal | | What after all in his game plan? | | early times report Jammu, Nov 14: Commenting on the latest acrimony between senior NC leader Dr Mustafa Kamaal and his nephew, state Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the PDP spokesperson Naeem Akhtar has said the diametrically opposed views held by the two are actually nothing more than a well wrought out division of political labour between the two. Akhtar has based his assertions on the long history of the NC which has been blowing hot and cold in the same breath depending on which side of the bread has butter for the leaders of the party. Quoting from the past, the PDP spokesperson said the formation of the Plebiscite Front which sought the right of self-determination by the NC leader, Mirza Afzal Beg with the tacit approval of the party patron, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah was actually the first evidence of the division of political labour in the NC. While Beg orchestrated the Plebiscite Front, the Sheikh was not even its basic member. Despite the concern shown by the Congress leadership regarding the statement made by the NC senior leader, the party high command has been doing nothing except a twitter comment by the CM that he does not need enemies as long as he has relatives to complicate issues for him. Interestingly, in response to the comments of his nephew, Dr Kamaal has said he knows politics better than his nephew since he has been in politics much before the birth of his nephew. This is really unheard of in party politics as even leaders of rival parties do not use such harsh language to defend their viewpoint. Omar Abdullah might be younger in age to his uncle and the latter might have been in politics much before the birth of the former, the fact remains that Omar Abdullah is the president of the party while Dr. Kamaal is one of its senior leaders. If senior party leaders indulge in indiscipline as the NC has been trying to portray Dr Kamaal's statement then what would be the plight of the party? How can the high command of the party control and effectively run it if senior leaders defy the high command? The only logical way out of the present situation would have been an outright suspension till the air was finally cleared. Instead, Dr Kamaal decided to hold a press conference during which he said India is in his blood and trying to accuse him of issuing an anti-India statement was highly painful and disturbing for the senior NC leader. The latest statement as it comes in the wake of his Kishtwar statement has only added confusion to an already over confused scenario. What after all is the political game plan of the Dr Kamaal? Perhaps not even his nephew and party president has any idea about that or does he?
