early times report JAMMU, Nov 23: All round performance from Razak today guided SKUAST Jammu to a ten runs win over Himachal Pradesh (HP) University Shimla in a group-C match of the All India Vice Chancellor's Twenty20 Cup Cricket Tournament underway at University of Jammu grounds, here. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, SKUAST Jammu set a target of 129 runs for the loss of five wickets, which, in reply, HP University could not chase and bowled out for 119 runs in 19.4 overs. Razak was top scorer with 40-ball 43 runs, including six boundaries while Naresh and Bikram contributed 21 and18 runs respectively. From HP, Rajesh was most successful bowler with three wickets. Batting second, HP University lost all their wickets for 119 runs in 19.4 overs thereby lost the league match by 10 runs. Rajesh Chander and Rajesh T were main contributors with 44 and 23 runs in their respective accounts while Pushpinder added 16 runs. From SKUAST Jammu, Razak bowled brilliant spell taking away three wickets while Anoop took two and Rakesh one. For his all-round performance, Razak was declared man of the match. Meanwhile, in another match of the day, Jamia Milia Islamia University Delhi defeated Gorakhpur University by seven wickets. Batting first, Gorakhpur set a target of 99 runs for eight wickets with Santosh being top scorer with 38 runs, followed by Munish Srivastva, who added 20 runs. From Jamia Delhi, Adeel Ahmed and Mohd Fareed took two wickets each. In reply, Jamia Delhi attained the goal easily, courtesy 70 (off 48 balls, 11x4, 1x6) runs unbeaten innings played by Adeel Ahmed. Jamia Delhi reached the target in just 13.2 overs losing three wickets. Ravi Kumar, Daya Shanker and Rajesh shared one wicket each from Gorakhpur University. Adeel Ahmed was obvious choice for man of the match trophy. In another match of the day, PU Chandigarh trounced Punjabi University Patiala by seven wickets. Batting first, Punjabi Patiala lost all their wickets for 118 runs in 19.4 overs. Jasbir, Pritpal and Gurpreet contributed 18, 16 and 13 runs respectively. From PU Chandigarh, Rahul clinched three wickets, followed by Rajesh and Suresh, who shared two each. Later, PU Chandigarh attained the goal making 120 runs for the loss of three wickets that too sparing 2.3 overs of their innings. Rajesh remained highest scorer with 48 runs while Naveen and Ashwani contributed 31 and 24 runs respectively. Gurpreet, Jasbir and Pritpal took one wicket each from Punjbi Patiala. For his match winning knock of 48 runs, Rajesh was adjudged man of the match. The IGNOU Delhi also won their league tie played against Jalgaon University beating latter by six wickets. Earlier, batting first, Jalgaon bowled out for 101 runs in 19.3 overs, which, in reply, IGNOU Delhi chased in 14.4 overs losing four wickets. Darshan was declared man of the match. |
