Indiscipline, corruption complaint against Cooperative Minister reaches AICC

JAMMU, Nov 23: All India Congress Committee (AICC) has taken strong notice of Minister of State for Cooperative Dr. Manohar Lal preferring to avoid meetings held by Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress committee (JKPCC).
Sources in New Delhi said that complaint has reached AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi wherein party workers have accused Dr. Manohar Lal of ignoring JKPCC by staying away from even legislative party and other important meetings. They have further said that Cooperative Minister has got used to indiscipline and has been heard calling a particular New Delhi based leader as 'Congress High command'.
They have said that ignoring party meetings and preferring to stay away from Congress headquarter in Jammu as well as Kashmir sends a wrong signal to the party workers. They get dissuaded by this kind of behavior, the party workers have written. They have also given a detailed account of alleged bungling committed by the Minister in the Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Housing Corporation (JKCHC).
In the complaint, they have referred to five plots which the Minister has allegedly got allotted to his family members and relatives besides seeking a probe into the immoveable assets created by the Minister within and outside the state during the last four years.
They pleaded with government to get a probe initiated against the said Minister so that the allegations of indiscipline and corruption are probed at the earlier.
If proven guilty, they have urged Congress General Secretary to initiate strict disciplinary action against Dr. Manohar Lal. It needs to be reiterated that the complaint is a follow up of the probe ordered by State Accountability Commission (SAC) against Dr. Manohar Lal and senior officers of his ministry for their alleged involvement in the embezzlement of crores of rupees and gross irregularities in the Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Housing Corporation (JKCHC).
The inquiry was ordered by SAC bench comprising its chairperson Justice YP Nargotra and member Justice Hakim Imtiyaz Hussain on the basis of a complaint and preliminary investigations into the case. Complaint against Dr Manohar, former Commissioner Secretary Cooperatives, Abdul Hamid Wani and Registrar Cooperatives, Muhammad Abbas was filed on September 15, 2011, by Farooq Ahmad Dar and Sunil Sharma.
In their complaint, the duo had alleged that an inquiry was conducted in respect of Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Housing Corporation which revealed that embezzlement Rs 5000 Cr was committed by former and present Manager Directors of the Corporation.
