| NC to take call on Kamaal on Dec 6 | | | early times report Jammu, Nov 23: National Conference will decide action against Mustafa Kamaal on Dec 6 at a party meeting. Sources said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had told party leaders that utterances by Kamaal is not only making things difficult for him but his recent personal veiled attack against him (Omar) can't be accepted. Mustafa Kamaal had last evening said Omar is reluctant for merger of Awami National Conference, founded by GM Shah, who had married to Khalida Shah, sister of Dr Farooq Abdullah. NC sources said Omar is not ready for this merger which he believes could question his un-questionable authority in the party. GM Shah had departed from the NC, after having serious differences with Farooq Abdullah and had questioned the authority of the Farooq in the party. The acrimonious relations between Farooq and GM Shah can be gauged by the party statement about GM Shah on its official website. It reads: "G.M.Shah was saddened and disillusioned at the manner in which Dr. Farooq Abdullah, son of Sheikh Abdullah, showed signs of lust for power and formed a coterie of self-serving persons for his personal gains." Omar doesn't want repetition of this episode to his authority. Sources, said Mustafa Kamaal has deliberately tried to hit out a Omar, with whom he had a disturbing relations for some time. Omar had publicly said his own chacha (Kamaal) is also given him embarrassing situations. According to NC sources, the latest statement by Mustafa Kamaal that Afzal Guru was convicted because he was a Muslim. Afzal Guru was convicted by Supreme Court-the apex court- and questioning its verdict, is tantamount to questioning the rule of law. It is likely to invite serious reactions from across the political spectrum which could pose further embarrassment to Omar Abdullah. Kamaal had contested elections by swearing on the Constitution of the India. Omar had himself not questioned the verdict of the SC but had infact congratulated the Centre for its handling of Kamal Asab's hanging. "Kamaal is deliberately trying to hit out at Omar and trying to lower his authority. It can't be accepted and party had decided to cut down his political wings," said a senior NC leader.
