Congress always pressed for the empowerment of Panchayats: Manjit

Vijaypur, Nov 23: Senior Congress leader and former Minister Manjit Singh today directed the party workers in Vijaypur constituency to ensure victory of the Congress and National Conference candidates in the scheduled MLC polls.
Singh, while addressing a meeting of Panches, Sarpanches and Congress workers at Vijaypur, insisted on them to work unitly for the victory of the coalition candidates including Sham Lal Bhagat of Assar area in Doda and Dr Shahnaz Ganai of Poonch. Giving thrust on the victory of the coalition partners, the former Minister said that door to door campaign should also be started in support of the Congress and NC candidates and people should be made aware about the policies and programmes of the government.
Manjit Singh, senior Congress leader while coming to the empowerment of Panchayats in Jammu and Kashmir, said that his party has always pressed for the empowerment of Panchayats and the government in Jammu and Kashmir has been working on it.
He informed that the Congress was in favour of the incorporation of the important clauses from the central Panchayat Raj Act.
He expressed satisfaction on the selection of the candidates for the MLC polls and hoped and their candidates in Jammu division will be victorious.Senior congress leader Dr. Satpal, Distt. Vice president Babbal Gupta, PYC Vice president Vijaypur Constituency Chander Sheakar Sharma, PYC Gen. Sect. Dr. Pankaj Mohan also adressed the meeting. Prominent among other who were present in the meeting were Sarpanch Bashir Ahmed (Khada Madana), Sarpanch Ntha Ram (Rangoor), Sarpanch Sham Lal Bhagat (VIjaypur), Sarpanch Brijpal Singh (Bagoona), Sarpanch Sukhjinder SIngh Bhola (Dhamore), Naib Sarpanch Sujaan Singh, Naib Sarpanch Ram Murti Sharma , Naib Sarpanch Tiriath Ram Bhagat, Panch Wajir Singh jangi, Ex Sarpanch Bachan Singh, Karnail Singh, Panch Bawa etc.
