| Saroori clarifies, denies allegations of corruption | | | early times report Kishtwar, Dec 23: Former Minister and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Moha-mmad Saroori today denied allegations of corruption leveled against him in a complaint filed before Vigilance Commissioner of Jammu and Kashmir. While reacting to a news item carried by a section of press about his alleged involvement in bungling in MGNERGA , he said he had no concern with the issue as he neither headed the RDD department or nor was any signatory authority for withdrawal of bills. He said that some vested interests were dragging his name by leveling false allegations against him. He said that being an MLA of the constituency, his job is to arrange funds for various schemes. "The prime duty of utilization/monitoring of work is lying with concerned department", he said. He added that after last year Panchayat elections, the responsibility of monitoring has been shifted to concerned Sarpanches and Panches of the area. He said that in case there is any misuse of government funds, he will support a proper inquiry so that the culprits could be punished under law. He said that that Vigilance Commissioner will look into the complaint on priority and said that he was hopeful that in the end his political enemies will get humiliated. It is worth mentioning that the complainant has alleged that corers of rupees have been misappropriated in the names of fake works under MGNREGA that includes road connectivity, flood protection, land development, irrigation and plantation. Besides these works, there are allegations of large scale bunglings in IAY, BRGF and CDF. |
