| As New Delhi simmers in anger, gang rape in Gharota | | Omar deliver's sermons in Delhi, fire in backyard | | Sumit Sharma JAMMU, Dec 23: With 23 year old young girl battling for life in a hospital in New Delhi and youth outside demanding tougher laws for speedy justice in rape cases, a 21 year old girl was gang raped by two persons in village Gharota of Akhnoor area. The incident has taken place within days of the brutal and heinous gang-rape of a 23 year old girl in New Delhi, who had been battling for life in Safdarjung Hospital from the last 8 days. While young have been agitating across the country against this brutal incident and seeking stringent punishment for accused besides framing of tougher laws to check physical violence, abuse, molestation, rape and eve-teasing, two person gang-raped a 21 year old in the outskirts of city of temples. Unlike the New Delhi victim, this 21 year old has returned home from the hospital but with trauma and unbearable pain of being helpless before the sexual beasts, who are arrested, put behind bars, taken to courts, remanded to the police custody, kept in the jails and then, either bailed out or acquitted for lack of evidence. If it goes the other way around, the noose does not come to them quick and fast. They pleaded President for mercy. Presidents of our country keeps the files pending; allow the time to pass and a rape convict is punished 20 to 30 years after the committing of crime. Two decades is minimum time for a rape victim to get justice. Meanwhile, Police confirmed to Early Times that the girl was gang raped by two persons, a driver namely Gian Chand and his friend Sunny Kumar. They added that Gian Chand is 28 year old while Sunny Kumar is 27. Both, according to police are close friends and have raped the 21 year old girl in a pre-planned manner. Police said that the girl was known to the accused driver Gian Chand. They added that Gian Chand called the girl outside her home in Gharota area of Akhnoor and when she came out; the two forcibly took her to nearby forest area and committed rape upon her. According to police, the girl was repeatedly raped and prevented from raising an alarm by the two accused. They said that the accused forced her to remain silent by putting a cloth in her mouth. However, the girl managed to raise an alarm somehow, following which locals rushed to the spot and shifted the girl to the hospital. On seeing the locals coming, the two managed to flee from the spot without being noticed. She was bleeding profusely, when she was shifted to the hospital, said the police sources. The incident had taken place late in the evening on Saturday while the girl's family reported the matter to the police in the morning on Sunday. Police immediately swung into action and reached the hospital. Doctors examining the 21 year old girl confirmed the rape after her medical examination. Though in her senses, police said that girl was in a dumb state and could not utter even a single word due to the shock which the unfortunate incident had caused to her. Police registered a case under Sections 376, 511 of RPC and started the investigations. Police sources said that they managed to get hold of one of the accused, Gian Chand within hours of the incident. They added that search has been intensified for nab the other culprit. "We are sure, he would be nailed within next few hours," said a police officer. Meanwhile, in another incident, sources said, a girl from Nanak Nagar went missing from her residence here in Nanak Nagar area. Police sources identified her as Ramneek. Police claims to have lodged FIR and launched manhunt to recover the girl.
