| Bhim Singh dares NC, Congress, Geelani to debate UN Resolutions on Kashmir with him | | "Will seek to file criminal proceedings against Farooq, Omar" | | early times report Jammu, Jan 5: Panthers Party founder Prof Bhim Singh has challenged Farooq Abdullah's National Conference, Syed Ali Shah Geelani's Jamat-e-Islami, Congress and BJP leaders to join on a common platform to debate the "so-called stinking" UN Resolution of 13 August, 1948 and 5 January 1949 on Kashmir and "leave it for the people of the State to decide who was right and who was wrong." Prof Singh challenged that he was prepared to join any leader from both sides of the State at any venue in India, Pakistan, Pakistan Occupied Kashmir or Gilgit. He claimed that it was Pakistan which had blatantly defied the UN Resolution of 5 January by annexing 32,000 sq miles of India's territory in J&K which includes Gilgit and Baltistan. "On the other hand Pakistan in total defiance of the UN Resolutions surrendered 5,000 sq miles in Karakoram region of Gilgit by an illegal agreement signed in 1963 between the then Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and the then Chinese Foreign Minister, Chou-en-Lai. This usurpation of State territory by Pakistan instead of vacating it was the climax of defiance of the UN Resolutions, the implementation of which the NC and Jamat leaders continue to exploit the innocent people," the NPP chief said in a statement. He said that India committed a blunder by returning Hazi Peer to Pakistan which was a strategic point from defence strategy. "Instead of withdrawing army from the territories which were settled by Pakistan in and after 1947, Pakistan committed aggression after aggression with an attempt to consolidate its position," he added. Prof Singh said in the Resolution on 13 August, 1948, the United Nations had directed Pakistan to withdraw its troops from that State. The NPP supreme declared that he will seek permission of President of India to file criminal proceedings against Dr Abdullah, and at the same time will seek permission of the Governor to prosecute Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for their "secessionists and anti-constitutional utterances that infringe the oath of office they have taken to uphold the integrity of the Constitution of India." |
