EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 15: An orientation programme on the theme 'Time Management' was organized by Shanti Gupta, Centre for Women Studies, MIER College of Education for the faculty members of M.Ed, B.Ed and B.Ed Special Education (MR) departments. HOD's of the all the departments, Dr Surinder Kour, Dr. B. L. Raina, Dr. Annie Koul and Rajendra Praveen participated in the programme. The resource person for orientation was Jasleen Mohial, coordinator Model Academy. Her presentation started with self-assessment on time management in which participants were given a questionnaire to fill. Through this they could rate themselves on the scale of 1-10 as time managers. She beautifully applied the skill of storytelling to explain a story of a king, attendant, and a prime minister. This story nicely communicated the time management skills such as cohesiveness, negotiation, creating opportunities, clarity, talking nicely etc. this story also highlighted that it does not matter how much time one spends working , but what matters is how much is achieved in a given period of time. She told the difference between being efficient and effective and how both the techniques should be aimed at getting maximum productivity. Certain time wasters like unwanted telephone calls, unfamiliar visitors, on spot meetings, lack of communication, unsettled desk etc. were also highlighted in the interaction and remedies against these time wasters were also added to the knowledge. Most noticeable time saver was to give importance to your own self and ability to say no to any unwanted task or event. The management and the staff appreciated the efforts of the centre in organizing such programmes. The programme was coordinated and organized by Monika Rathore, project officer CWS. |
