TV debate on Pakistani brutality BJP's demand for action against Pak "communal," says "secularists"
1/16/2013 3:28:30 AM
Rustam
Jammu, Jan 15: Believe it or not, but it is a fact that Indian "secularists", mostly Congress supporters like Sanjay Jha, Co-founder of Hamara Congress.com, Anand Pradhan and Dinesh Desai, have given a new definition of "secularism". According to them, those demanding a befitting reply to Pakistan for the brutal and inhuman act its army committed in Mendhar area of Jammu province after intruding deep inside the Indian territories on January 8 must be contemptuously dismissed as "rabidly communal". They condemned as "communal" those demanding stern action against Pakistan today while participating in a live debate yesterday evening on the prevailing situation along the Line of Control (LoC) and nature and implications of reporting by private TV news channels like ABP news.
Jha, who is a staunch supporter of the Congress party, and Pradhan and Desai, who are too well-known for their belief in fake secularism, as also for their very soft approach towards Pakistan, not only condemned the BJP and the Shiv Sena using very harsh, filthy and provocative language, but also advised the media, especially electronic media, not to go too far and present things in what they called lurid colours to arouse popular passions in the country. In fact, they criticized the electronic media saying it has been giving an emotional touch to the January 8 gory event, instead of reporting the incident. They virtually condoned the Pakistani crime saying such incidents (in this case brutal killing of two Indian soldiers and the mutilation of their bodies and beheading of one of them, plus the Pakistani intrusion deep inside India) do take place and that the electronic media would be well advised not to make mountain out of a mole-hill. It must remain a matter of shame for them to say what they said.
As for the BJP and the Shiv Sena, all the three - Jha, Pradhan and Desai - left no stone unturned to tarnish their image, paint them black, dismiss them as rank opportunists and accused them of trying to put India on the road to war with Pakistan. All the three, without any exception, dubbed both the parties as pseudo-nationalist and charged them with exploiting the situation arising out of the January 8 incident for vote-bank politics keeping their eyes fixed on 2014 elections. They were so outrageous and more Pakistani than the Pakistani are that BJP national vice-president and national spokesperson Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, who was one of the participants in the debate, tore into them, described as Pakistani agents operating in India and "shameless". Inn ko shrm aani chahia yeh bolte hoye", he said, adding that "it is the duty of all true Indians to condemn the inhuman act of the Pakistani army" and that the BJP would continue to insist on what it had been demanding to protect the vital national interests and teaching an unforgettable lesson to Pakistan". Not only he, even one former Army retired Colonel Rathore felt dumbfounded when the pseudo-secularists like Jha, Pradhan and Desai dismissed the BJP and the Shiv Sena "communalists" saying these parties committed no wrong while expressing the views they expressed taking into consideration the gravity of the situation. Even NK Singh, a sophisticated journalist, refused to appreciate the views of Jha, Pradhan and Desai saying an extraordinary situation demanded an extraordinary response for the outraged nation.
The issue is not what Jha, Pradhan and Desai said. The issue is that we have in our establishment persons who have been fielding such black sheep and traitors as Jha, Pradhan and Desai to counter the nationalist point of view and defend the demons and anti-India States like Pakistan. Another issue is that the leading TV channels are ensuring the participation of Jai Chands in highly sensitive debates of great national import. The private TV news channels would do well to ensure the participation in such debates of only those Indians who are Indians in the real sense of the term and not those who pose them as Indians but who actually promote the dubious cause of Pakistan, which has been using terror as a State policy to not only annex Kashmir but also to dismember India.
