kishtwar, Jan 15: In a fresh political development after latest Cabinet expansion in Jammu and Kashmir, nearly 80 Sarpanchs and over 600 Panchs of Inderwal constituency have tendered their resignations resenting non inclusion of MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori into Council of Ministers.
Sarpanchs and Panchs hailing from Chatroo, Thatri, Drabshala, Gandow and Kishtwar, confirmed that they had tendered their resignations from the Congress party, however, expressed their will to work under the leadership of MLA Inderwal.
The Sarpanchs said that they were urging Saroori to resign from Congress party including Ghulam Nabi Azad who has betrayed him. They said that with exclusion of Saroori from Council of Ministers, Ghulam Nabi Azad portrayed himself as a villain before the people of Kishtwar district particularly before the people of Inderwal. The sources close to Saroori informed ET that more resignations from Congress leaders are expected tomorrow. As per the inputs, nearly 3000 Congress activists close to Saroori are camping at Jammu and are urging him to announce his resignation from Congress Party. The sources added that Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand also visited Saroori's Jammu residence an hour before the Cabinet expansion and conveyed some party massage to him. Congress MLA from Bhaderwah Mohammad Sharief Niaz who also failed to find Ministerial berth has so far remained silent.
Despite repeated attempts to call Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, he was unavailable for comment over the resignation submitted by the Sarpanchs and Panchs of his constituency. Block President Chatroo Gh Qadir Sheikh, Block President Drabshall Mohammad Iqbal Keen, Block President Thatri Mohammad Iqbal Teli, president Sarpanch Association Gandoh Muneer Ahmed Sheikh are few to mention who have resigned from the Congress party. Meanwhile, reliable sources informed ET that principal opposition party PDP is in constant touch with some Congress dissidents including Ghulam Mohammad Saroori. The sources said that PDP has assigned the job of luring Saroori and other annoyed Congress camp MLA's to its senior party leader Muzaffar Hussain Beigh.
The sources said that Muzaffar Beigh is expected to hold the meeting with Saroori and others in next few days. Agitating Sarpanchs and Panchs of Inderwal constituency are expected to address a press conference in Jammu tomorrow.
