EARLY TIMES REPORT BHUBNESHWAR, Jan 15 : India's most happening cultural centre Rabindra Rangmandap, Bhubneshwar vibrated with the electrifying performances of Jammu's celebrated actors when they enlivened the sixth century supreme sacrifice of legendary farmer Bawa Jitto before the jam-packed audiences comprising of the art lovers of Odisha. A twenty-three artists' group of Natrang Jammu is in Odisha in connection with its participation in the National Contemporary Theatre Festival being organised by Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi in collaboration with East Zone Cultural Centre, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, Department of Tourism and Culture Odisha Government and the Odisha Natya Sangha. Best of India's theatre is being showcased through the top ranking theatre groups of the country like Natrang Jammu (Director Balwant Thakur) Ekjute, Mumbai (Director Nadira Babar), Rang Vidushak, Bhopal (Director Bansi Kaul), Sayak Kolkatta (Director Meghand Bhattcharya) and Annapurna Theatre, Puri (Director Nitynanda Dash). Natrang's Internationally acclaimed Dogri play 'Bawa Jitto' written by Late Prof Ram Nath Shastri and directed by Balwant Thakur came in much of the appreciation of the theatre lovers of Odisha for its highly innovative use of traditional performance modes in contemporary styles and the imaginative use of actors formations and groupings which turns the whole stage imagery into the ultimate example of visual poetry. Versatile stage and Television actors from Jammu like Anil Tickoo, Neeraj Kant, Sanjeev Gupta, Madan Rangeela, Subash Jamwal, Vijay Bhatt and Juhi Singh through their flawless exceptional acting transported the Odisha audiences to the 15th century cultural life of Jammu. On the occasion Balwant Thakur informed that had there not been the support of J&K Government (Department of Tourism and Culture) and J&K Academy of Art Culture and languages, it would have been impossible for the group to make it to the country's most prestigious cultural event. |
