Jammu, Jan 15: The activists of Hindustan Shiv Sena (HSS) have staged a protest against the state government for its failure to provide security to Sarpanches and Panches despite of open threat to their lives by the militants.
The activists of HSS assembled at Indra Chowk and raised slogans against state government. While talking to media persons, Rajan Gupta alleged that due to the negligence of state government for not providing security to panchyat representatives the sarpanch Habibullah Mir was killed in militant attack and in another similar attack lady panch was also injured.
He appealed to the state government to provide security to all elected panches and sarpanches especially who face militant threats or elected from militancy prone areas and also appealed central government to intervene immediately and save the democracy in state in the state. Others who participated in protest included Shiv Kumar Sharma, Satish Sahni, Kulbir Singh Chib, Ashok Sharma, Jatinder Kohli, K. Shivani Rao, Anil, Ganesh, Rafiq and others. |
