| Border people tense after escalating 'strains' along LoC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Rajouri, Jan 15: The escalated tension along Line of Control due to ongoing firing from Pakistan side especially after recent barbaric killing of two Indian troopers by Pakistani troops whose bodies bear mutilation in Mendhar has created fear among the people living along fire line between the India and Pakistan. Some villagers even fear that similar kind of situation was in 2001, when villagers were uprooted from their native places owing to heavy shelling from Pakistan side and were forced to take shelters in nearby schools which were closed due to heavy shelling along the LoC and Indo Pak border in state. A teacher of Middle School Sarya situated very close to Line of Control (LoC) at Jhanger on Rajouri said this village has faced worst times in past resulted education of our four to five generations suffered great loss. "Situation of this area has turned panicky after Pakistan violated ceasefire in Mendhar and killed two soldiers on Jan 8; he added. He said that attendance of students in schools is going down each day passes owing to panic brewing among parents of students studying in this school. Ex-Sarpanch of village Sarya said that parents are not mentally prepared to send their children to schools owing to growing tension on borders as like every parents they too are worried for the security of their wards. He said situation become so tense that villagers don't allow their wards to venture after 7 pm in the evenings outside their homes as most of the firing incidents have occurred at late evening hours.
