Private tuition centers hik fee in Anantnag
Govt decision affects students
1/16/2013 12:20:11 AM
Saahil Suhail
Anantnag, Jan 15: After district administration directed private tuition centers to follow the norms prescribed for them by the government as it directed to make adequate accommodation and other facilities in the centers here in South Kashmir's Anantnag district.
After the decision, now these money minting private tuition centers have left number of poor students in dilemma after they allegedly hiked tuition fee.
Number of students studying in one of the infamous and unregistered private tuition center 'Usm-aina Coaching Center' alleged that they were informed by one of the subject teacher Shakeel Ahmad Khanday who also owns the tuition center to pay 5000 per subject.
"Today after he finished the lecture, he told us that we have hiked fee by 1000 per subject and now you have to pay according to new charges." Showket Ahmad, a student said
He said, "When we asked him why the institute is charging more fee? He answered in a short tempered manner and said we have to register and buy new matting etc and excuses of being economically poor will not work here."
Repeated attempts failed to contact the Owner of Usmania Coaching center for the comment.
Meanwhile Parents whose wards are studying in this particular private tuition center have expressed anguish over the fee hike and have demanded the intervention of Deputy Commissioner Anantnag.
"They turned these centers as money minting centers, this is concern for the administration who isn't pressing them, we have no other option, this is competitive age and quality education matters. So administration should intervene in the matter and fee should be fixed by them." Mohd Ramzan of Dialgam said.
When contacted, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Farooq Ahmad Shah confirmed fee hike and said. "Yes my office has also received complaints of fee hike. I have communicated them not to go for hike." adding we will not allow them to hike fee.
Worth to mention that divisional Commissioner Kashmir has directed all private tuition centers functioning in Kashmir division to get registered with the directorate of education before January 31, 2013 and maintain an admission register indicating detailed particulars of the candidates and shall notify and display monthly tuition fee charged from students.
