early times report Jammu, Jan 15: Asserting that there is no war like situation along the Line of Control, GOC-in-C, Northern Command Lt Gen K T Parnaik today said China is raising infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir but there is no threat. "The threat is from Pakistan but not from China," Lt Gen Parnaik told reporters during an interaction at the sidelines of investiture ceremony in Akhnoor area on city outskirts. "China is raising infrastructure in PoK in the form of bridges, roads and other structures," the Army Commander said, adding that Chinese troops are very much present across the line. "There is no war like situation at LoC but the situation is being monitored and well under control," the GOC-in-C said. Lt Gen Parnaik further said around 43 militant camps are active in PoK and more than 2,500 militants are being trained in the camps. "Over 2,500 militants are being trained in the camps across in PoK but our jawans are geared up and ready to face any challenge," he added. On Siachen glacier, he said, "Siachen glacier is strategically an important area for us. On the western side of the glacier, Pakistan troops are present in Gilgit-Balochistan areas, but there is no risk." "We have enough troops guarding the Line of Control (LoC) and Line of Actual Control (LAC) and the area is well equipped," the Army Commander said. Mean-while on Mendhar incident wherein two soldiers were killed in Pakistan attack, Lt Gen Parnaik said that it is high time and their sacrifices will not go waste. |
