early times report
Jammu, Jan 15: Termed Pak claims that Indian army had killed Pakistani soldier by violating LoC in Uri, Pakistan's way of telling lies, Lt Gen K T Parnaik, General-Officer-in Command (Northern Command) today said it was well planned incident, and there was no fault from Indian side. However he said situation along LoC is tense due to barbaric mutilation of Indian soldier, but under control.
Interacting with media after Northern Command Investiture Ceremony here at Akhnoor, Parnaik accused Pakistan of committing three ceasefire violations after a Brigadier-level flag meeting between the two countries, which was held at Chakan-Da-Bagh Poonch on Monday. "The Indian Army retaliated, but our troops did not cross the border in Uri sector on Jan 6, the day Pakistan claimed that one of its soldiers was killed, nor thereafter despite the high provocation" he claimed and said geographically it was not possible to attack over the particular post, which is located at high places and about three kilometers away from LoC at Uri Sector.
These incidents were well planned by the Pakistani Army on January 6 they claimed Indian troops killed Pak soldier and on January 8 they entered Indian side and killed our two soldiers. "Their act was certainly un-pardonable" he said. Geneva Convention and the agreement of ceasefire is being violated again and again by Pakistan. "Though, I think there is no war like situation, and nor will happen in future. It is not good for Pakistan and we also don't desire it" he said reply media query.
"The beheading of an Indian soldier was not just a provocation but a grave provocation, and we have reserve our rights to strike at the time and place of its choosing, said and added a hotline call was made to register the protest as Pak forces used not just fired from small arms, but even resorted to mortar shelling. He admitted that situation along LoC was tense, but under control. "Pak forces look for opportunities to internationalize the matter and involve United Nations observers by trying to use their civilians and compelling Indian Army to fire on them. But the Indian forces have retaliated in very controlled manner" he added.
"Their intentions were clear to disturb the peace in state. We need to be more alert and clam. We have been trying our best to flourish a normal life there. The Jawans have always portrayed their courage and are working hard. In different climate and different condition, fighting against terrorism is not easy. Indian Army will keep up fighting terrorism," he said. "Pakistan was given all the evidence of (their) laying mines on the Indian side of the LoC, killing of Indian soldiers and mutilation of their bodies but they were in a denial mode. it was Pakistan's way of telling lies,".
