After hearing Public Prosecutor Neeraj Bhardwaj for the state and Advocate R K Kotwal appearing for the accused, the court observed that it was unfortunate that the complainant despite initially demonstrating enthusiasm to bring the corrupt official to book adopted a soft stand to spare the accused oblivious of the fact that he had filed complaint alleging exploitation of the hand of accused corruption has assumed menacing proportions. "It has become a monster, machinery of the state cannot be effected to curb menace of corruption unless public at large changes its mind set on both fronts saying big no to collusive corruption and adhering to a principled stand that once subject to coercive corruption, the victim shall not falter at the trial. The peoples resolve to fight corrupt is the most effective weapon practicing and not mere preaching will yield the desired result and route out the evil of corruption," he said. With these observations the Court acquitted the accused from the charges levelled against him. (JNF) |
