Dropped MLAs stage protest through proxy
Cabinet expansion fallout
1/20/2013 12:07:27 AM

Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 19: Those who have not been inducted in Council of Ministers in the recent Cabinet reshuffle by Omar Abdullah, are using their supporters and followers to pressurize the Chief Minister and Congress party to reverse the decision.
This all started when Ghulam Mohammad Saroori's supporters and sarpanches of Inderwal constituency resigned from Congress party to protest against the non inclusion of their MLA into the Council of Ministers. They even asked Saroori to resign from Congress party but he refused and termed it a part and parcel of life.
Though he himself remained mum on blaming any one for his non inclusion in the Ministry but through his supporters he attacked both Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is said to be the mentor of Azad and Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Saifuddin Soz. Following this the MLA Bhaderwah Mohammad Sharief Niaz's supporters raised voice against his non-inclusion in Council of Ministers. They followed the same path and resigned from Congress party.
Various leaders of Congress party even gathered at the residence of Saroori to show sympathy with him. Saroori has not attended any function and has remained mostly indoor since expansion.
As this drama was going on, the NC men tried to follow the same line and first were supporters of former Minister and present senior vice president Surjeet Singh Salathia who gathered at his residence to get the direction but were calm down by Abdul Rahim Rather and didn't allow fire to spread.
But things for NC didn't stop there and got a big jolt when its Ladakh unit, provincial, district and block levels, resigned enmass in protest against Qamar Ali Akhoon's expulsion from Ministry.
Sources said that all these MLAs have hand behind these protests and had sent their close associates to gather support from their people and show resentment against Congress party and Omar Abdullah. But they themselves remained at the back and tried to show that they have nothing to do with the protests and people themselves have staged protests.
