| Play role to ensure 100 pc enrolment in schools: Tara to parents, civil society | | | early times report
Jammu, Feb 22: Stressing on improving enrolment in government schools, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand who also hold Education portfolio today said that focused approach has to be followed for ensuring 100 percent enrolment of children in respective institutions. "Education department is working on the roadmap to achieve the target of cent percent registration in schools but this ambitious target needs help from all quarters of the society," he said and appealed to parents and members of civil society to be partners with the department in achieving the objective of spreading education to every nook and corner of the state. "No child should be left behind in the revolution to spread education in the state and teachers have to sensitize parents and involve local panchayat representatives in rural areas for ensuring enrolment of every single child," he added while addressing a high level meeting to review the progress of education department. The Deputy Chief Minister said project 'Talash' has already been launched in the state with the aim to bring back to school all those children who had dropped out. He said tehsil and block level database would be compiled to formulate a comprehensive strategy to contain the school drop out rate. Commissioner-Secretary, School Education F A Factoo, State Project Director, RMSA Hilal A. Parrey, State Project Director SSA Yasha Mudgal, Joint Director, Planning, CEO, Jammu, Executive Engineer, PWD besides zonal level officers and principals attended the meeting. Taking review of financial and physical achievements in the department, Tara Chand called upon the concerned authorities to keep their activities at maximum so that the performance of the department could be improved to a larger extent. He stressed on following work calendar for undertaken civil works and meeting highest quality standards. He directed the zonal officers to conduct detailed inspection of schools and report on requirements with respect to boundary wall, repairs, additional rooms, drinking water facilities and wash rooms for students.
