| Woman conceives after Tubectomy procedure in private hospital | | | Asif Iqbal Naik kishtwar, Feb 22: In a bizarre incident of cheating and medical negligence, a 28 year old woman was discovered to be pregnant, few months after he underwent tubectomy in a Valley based private hospital. According to Talib Hussain, a labourer in Kishtwar, his 28 year old wife Akthara Begum developed some gynaecological problem couple of months ago and was advised surgery of the same. Accordingly, he arranged money for the surgery by collecting donations from public and admitted his wife in Srinagar based Ramzaan Hospital, where the doctors operated on his wife. In addition to the surgery for her obstetric problem, the doctors also conducted tubectomy on his wife. After returning from Srinagar, his wife again developed some pain a couple of days ago and said that on consulting lady doctor at Kishtwar hospital, he came to know that his wife was five months pregnant. The couple was taken aback by the disclosure of the lady doctor as the lady was operated upon on 12-11-2012 and discharged from the hospital on 13-11-2012. "When my wife was discharged after surgery on November 13, 2012, how could she be five months pregnant four months after it," Talib Hussain said showing the medical record of the admission and discharge of her wife. According to the record, the surgery was performed by Dr. M A Butt and Dr. Asmat Khandey. After undergoing surgery, Akthar Begum was discharged next day, while her stitches were removed on 19-11-2012. Talib in support of his allegations also provided the detail reports of medical test conducted on his wife before undergoing surgery and also the payment slips of the same. The poor couple are clueless on the course of action that they can take against the private hospital which duped them of their money and risked their life. |
