| 4 BGSBU students held for ragging | | | Rajouri, Feb 22: Police have booked two senior students of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) for ragging two junior students of their department. All the four are the students of B.Tech in college of Engineering and Technology of BGSBU. The students have been booked by the Rajouri police under Prohibition of Ragging Act-2011. Sources said that the junior students identified as Tahir Mohi-ud-Din and Shaheb Nawaz of 3rd semester in their written complaint to police said that today two senior students called them in an isolated place started ragging them. The senior students who have been identified as Sahil Meraz and Sehrab Shokat have been booked (FIR 74/13) under section 4 of Prohibition of Ragging Act-2011. Security officer of the university, Mir Hussain, who tried to rescue the junior students after they raised an alarm was also manhandled by the duo. On the complaint of security officer Sahil was also booked under section 353 RPC (FIR 75/13) for obstructing employee to perform his duty. Inspector Varinder Gupta, SHO, Rajouri said that the incident took place on Thursday and Sahil was also arrested by the police while Sehrab is untraced. It is pertinent to mention that the students of B Tech have been creating trouble for the university authorities since a long time and some of them were involved in hacking the password of most of the heads of the departments They were also involved raising pro Pakistan and anti India slogans when Pakistan had entered the semi finals of T-20 world cup. Recently after the hanging of Afzal Guru they also raised pro Pakistan, pro-azadi and anti India slogans but timely action by the police and university administration foiled their attempt. |
