| NPSU stages protest against Traffic Deptt. | | | Jammu, Feb 22: Angered over rampant increase in road accidents outside Jammu University gate, activists of Nantional Panthers Student Union on Friday staged protest demonstration against Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic Jammu and Chief Engineer PWD. The protesters alleged that the pathetic attitude of both the departments led to number of road accidents infront Jammu university gate. Around one dozen NPSU activists assembled at Jammu University gate and started protest demonstration amid raising slogans. They also burnt the effigy of the departments.
Addressing the protesters, NPSU leader Varinder Singh lambasted both the departments and said that for the last around ten years number of students and scholars have been died in front of Jammu University gate but no action has been taken yet.
He also informed that the student community has been demanding construction of speed breakers in front of University Gate and deployment of traffic cops, but nothing has been done by both departments, so far.
He threatened to launch agitation if action would not be taken soon. Deep Singh, Surya Dev Singh, Usman Ganai, Vikram Sharma, Bony Singh, Amir and Lucky Singh participated in protest. . |
