Refugee leaders join hands: Demand facilities at par with displaced KPs

Vijaypur, Feb 22: With a motive to fight from one platform, representatives of displaced and refugee leaders have joined hand to compel the Jammu and Kashmir government to accept their demands like granting of facilities at par with the displaced Kashmir Pandits. A meeting, in this regard, was held at the residence of former minister and senior Congress leader Manjit Singh, who has also been struggling for the rights of the displaced persons/ refugees.
The meeting was attended by the Rajeev Chunni, retired Capt SR Nagyal, Jagjit Singh Suddan, retired Caption Youdhvir Singh, Satvant Singh, Khajur Singh, Ranjeet Singh, Paras Ram Sarpanch, Soba Singh, Prem Singh Chib, and Ch Paratap Singh.
During the meeting, the participants, according to a statement, discussed various issues of the Pakistan occupied Kashmir, 1965, and 1971 and the difficulties being faced by the people.
The refugees/displaced persons leaders unanimously decided that in future they will fight from one platform so that the long pending demands like one time settlement 1947, 1965 and 1971 can be accepted. Highlighting their demands, the refugee leaders demanded some of the displaced persons of 1947, 1965 and 1971 were not registered and the government should reopen the registration so that the left over lot can register them to seek benefits of the government politics in favour of the displaced persons or refugees or can get the benefits being taken by the registered displaced persons/refugees. They further demanded that the government should provide them reservation in the professional and technical institutions at par with the displaced Kashmir Pandit.
Besides this, they said that the displaced persons/refugees have been facing land deficiency and appealed to give adequate land to the affected families facing land deficiency that too at par with the prevailing market price of the land.
They again stressed on the government to treat the displaced persons at par with the KPs and give them all the facilities given to the Kashmiri Pandits.
