Dismayed by poor response, separatists issue no fresh shut dictates

Srinagar, Feb 22 : Stumped by poor response to their strike calendar by the people even in the areas which have been the traditional strong holds, the separatists have not imposed any fresh strike schedule on the people of the valley.
The protest calendar which was issued by hardliner Separatist faction led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani last week ended today and there were speculations that the said faction will issue a new protest calendar on Friday evening which would decide whether they will
stretch this strike system till the end of this month or it will end here.
However, the said separatist group today asked the people to resume their day to day activities from Saturday and did not issue any new protest calendar.
To keep their strike politics alive, the said group has however asked the people to go for evening protests in coming days and write slogans on walls favoring the return of Afzal Guru's body and make use of social networking sites for this purpose as well.
The statement issued in this regard reads that there will be no Hartal on February 23, 24 and 25. People are however appealed to hold special religious prayers on the evening of Saturday and Sunday across the Kashmir valley.
The statement was issued by the care taking chairman of the separatist faction (G) Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai who quoted Syed Ali Geelani who is undergoing house arrest at his Delhi residence post Afzal Guru hanging issue.
Earlier least response was seen to the Hartal calendar issued by separatists this time in some historically renowned separatist calendar following areas like downtown Srinagar, Baramullah, Anantnag maintown, Shopian, Tral in district Pulwama and some other places.
Meanwhile according to the details received, separatists are again working for unification among major factions led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Yaseen Malik and Gealani to formulate a joint strategy for their future programmes in Kashmir. The Workers of these factions are working at different levels to hold a joint meeting of the acting chairman's of these factions somewhere in Kashmir to compromise on certain dividing issues between the different factions of separatists which emer-ged after the fragmentation of these factions earlier and to formulate a joint strategy for future a head.
