Pune petrol dealers’association came to know about the revision in LBT on petrol and diesel in a recent meeting, said reports. The petrol dealers' association of Pune sent a memoranda to the district collector, Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal commissioners as well as the police commissioner informing them that petrol pumps in these places will remain closed on Monday. According to the spokesperson of Pune Petrol Dealers’ Association, the decision would affect the consumers directly as the price of diesel has already been deregulated. Deregulating diesel prices would result in increase in its price by 50 paise-1 rupee every month. Moreover, petrol and diesel come under ‘petrol and petroleum products according to the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, hence LBT cannot be levied on petrol and diesel that are covered under essential commodities. |
