| NMC demands release of pending DA installment | | | Jammu: Demanding an early release of the pending installment of 8% DA due from January for both central and State Governments employees and pensioners, the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) said today that salaried class was facing lot of economic hardship due to high inflation and price rise and the release of said installment will be genuine measure to provide some relief to them. Addressing a largely attended workers rally here, NMC president Subash Shastri urged upon Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to take steps in this regard during the next cabinet meeting. Referring to the genuine demands of salaried class, Shastri also demanded early sanction of 20% Interim relief, merger of 50% DA in to basic pay/pension in favour of Central and State Governments employees and pensioners. Shastri pointed out that DA already touching the mark of 72% of basic pay and pension and merger had become due when DA crossed more than 50%. Pleading the cause of daily wagers/casual labour and seasonal labour working in the various Government departments, Shastri said that their wages should be raised ten thousand per month in view the cost of living index having gone up due to rising prices. Enhancement in the medical allowance to 1000/-per month, regularization of the services of daily wagers who have completed seven years of service up to 31 March 2012, removal of all anomalies of SRO-93 particularly clerical staff were other demands highlighted in the rally. |
