SRINAGAR: Minister of State for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Mr. Nazir Ahmad Gurezi said that the Government was committed to provide basic amenities to the people of all three regions of State. He said in this regard numerous initiatives have been taken by the Government but there is dire need to implement the flagship programmes launched by the State and Centre governments on ground. The Minister was interacting with the people at different places including Gopalpora Wathora in District Budgam during his tour today. Earlier, the Minister inspected Over Head Tank (OHT) at Wathora and directed the concerned engineers to formulate a comprehensive project report for New Water Supply Scheme, Wathora with Doodhganga as source and submit the same to the concerned quarters within a fortnight so that the funds could be arranged for the purpose. He said on construction of this new project the water scarcity in Dooniwara, Wathora, Bugam and Gopalpora villages would overcome. On the occasion, the Minister was informed that the project report for new WSS Wathora was prepared at a tentative cost of Rs.6 crore and would be submitted for according necessary sanction. During his visit, several deputations met the Minister and apprised him of their individual and collective problems which included replacement of damaged poles, installation of new poles, up gradation and improvement of Dar Colony Gopalpora road. Mr. Gurezi heard them patiently and assured them that their genuine demands would be looked into. A team of officers and engineers of various departments accompanied the Minister during his visit. |
