| Junior docs go on strike, demand security cover | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 14 : The health services remained affected in Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu owing to the absence of junior doctors who went on strike in protest against mishandling of their colleagues by relatives of a deceased patient in the emergency wing of the hospital last night. The junior doctors went on strike after previous night's incident. Last night a scuffle broke out between junior doctors and relatives of a patient namely Vishal Sharma of Phalayamandal in the Hospital premises, who died in GMC&H where he was admitted for treatment. The relatives of the deceased alleged that the victim required blood but the junior doctors on duty did not secure the same in time due to which he died. Lodging resentment against hospital administration, the junior doctors alleged that such type of incidents have become regular feature in the premises of GMC&H. They demanded security cover to avoid such protests which they allege create trouble in performing their duties. "Most of the junior doctors are not government employees as they are only students, who pursing Post Graduation and MBBS," the protesting junior doctors said. |
