Bandipora records 21000 quintals of fish production

BANDIPORA: In order to sensitize educated youth about the benefits, a training programme was organized at Town Hall, Bandipora by the department of Fisheries here today.
During the programme, various schemes were highlighted so that by adopting these schemes, more production and more profit can be achieved keeping in view the potential of water resources available in the district.
On this occasion, as many as 5 prosperous fish farmers who adopted these schemes, were provided cheques worth Rs. 6.90 lakh for the construction part for Carp and Trout Ponds.
It was given out that a fish market is being constructed at Nathpora Bandipora at a cost of Rs. 15 lakh which would be completed by end of this year.
Assistant Director Fisheries said that the focus of the department was to develop Carp and Trout fish culture so that the fishermen can improve their socio-economic conditions. He said that the fish production in the district has been recorded 21,000 quintals.
Among others, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Bandipora besides other officers and progressive farmers were present on the occasion.
