SRINAGAR: Promotion of regional languages including Kashmiri are among the priorities of Government adding that concrete measures have been initiated for the said purpose. This was stated by the Minister of State for Technical Education, Information, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Mr. Vikar Rasool while releasing “Sherbasch” authored by Mtr. Rohi Jan at Doordarshan Kendra Studio, Srinagar here today. Among others Director, School Education, Kashmir, Mohammad Shafi Rather, Deputy Director General, Doordarshan Kendra, Srinagar, Mr. Qayoom Wadera, Dr. Aziz Hajni, Prof. Iqbal Nazki, Prof. Mohammad Zaman Aazurda, Mr. Zahid Mukhtar, Mtr. Rohi Jan and intellectuals and writers were present on the occasion. Emphasizing for the need of preserving and promoting the Kashmiri language, the Minister said that language is the main component, identity and culture of a community. The Minister stressed that mother tongue is the best medium for transferring the information, besides educating the people in the society. He said that the language is boon of seers and saints and is spoken not only in Kashmir Valley but also in the areas of Doda, Ramban, Banihal, Kishtwar, Bhaderwah, Gool Gulab Garh, Rajouri and Poonch. Lauding the contribution of poets, writers and intellectuals of the State and those from outside the State, the Minister said that renowned poets like Rasa Javdani, Janbaz Kashmiri have vehemently contributed for the promotion of the language. |
