| Taj inaugurates 20th National TT championship | | Urges for upgradation of sports infrastructure | | SRINAGAR: Minister for Medical Education and Youth Services & Sports, Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-din reiterated that government is committed for upliftment of sports sector besides has already initiated various measures for upgradation of sports infrastructure in the State. He said sports play pivotal role for physical development and betterment of youth besides making them disciplined and inculcating team spirit among them. This was stated by the Minister while inaugurating 20th National Table Tennis Championship 2012-13 at Indore Sports Stadium Complex Srinagar here today. Mr. Taj said that youth of our State have vast potential for sports activities and they have proved their mettle at national and international sports events. He said there is need to explore their talent and provide platform for the display of their capability besides upgrading the sports infrastructure on modern trends. While congratulating the participants from all across the country, the Minister exhorted upon them to act as ambassadors of Kashmir and spread the message that Kashmir is ideal place for national and international sports events. The Minister said that promotion of sports sector is one of the priorities of government so that young generations are able to exhibit their talent and potential and bring laurels to the State, all across the globe. Mr. Taj Said that concrete steps are being taken for the renovation and upgradation of Indore Stadium Complex so that better sports atmosphere is created and large participation of players is ensured besides mega sports events be organized. The Championship has been organized by J&K Table Tennis Association in collaboration with Table Tennis Federation of India and Indian Veteran Table Tennis Association. The event shall continue till April 20 and about one thousand players from all States of the country shall participate in the championship. Among others, Joint Secretary, Union Ministry of Industries & Commerce, Mr. Sudhanshu Pandey, Vice President, JKTTA, General Secretary, JKTTA, large number of students and sports lovers were present on the occasion. |
