| Czech Ambassador calls on Agriculture Minister | | Offers introduction of Czech storage technology in J&K | | JAMMU: Ambassador of Czech Republic, Miloslva Stasek called on Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir here this afternoon. The Minister briefed the Ambassador about the initiatives taken by the state Government to boost the activities of Agriculture, Horticulture and other allied sectors. He said that government exempts Tax and VAT on agriculture inputs. The Minister gave him a detailed account of agriculture activities and its allied sectors in three regions of the state adding that saffron, apple, walnut and Basmati rice are being produced in the state in abundance which is world famous. During the interaction, the Ambassador offered introduction of Czech technology in J&K for storage purposes in the field of Agriculture, Horticulture and Vegetable produce besides providing modern farm technology particularly tractors and mini tractors. The Ambassador said the Czech Republic would also provide soft loan to the state farmers and entrepreneurs on lowest interest rate of 3% for Cold Storage projects, the rider for the financial assistance is to use Czech technology in these projects. He said that the republic would check the modalities with India for export of walnut and saffron from Kashmir and Basmati rice from Jammu. He said in our country, there is great demand of walnut during festivals. The Ambassador said that Agriculture Minister of the Republic is also planning to visit J&K. |
