He said all the purchases are made by the committees constituted for the purpose. Clarifying his stand on the issue, the Minister said that a Minister has no direct role in the purchases which are made independently by respective Purchase Committees. He described spurious drugs as heinous crime in the society and advocated severest punishment for those responsible for this inhuman act. Interacting with the media persons here today, the Minister said that some vested interest groups have started a vilification campaign against him and tried to tarnish his public image by involving him unnecessarily. He said the issue has been politicized and even civil society has been misled and a different picture has been presented which is beyond the truth. He clarified that the drug was supplied in all hospitals across the State irrespective of any particular division or district, as alleged by some people. Possibly those affected by the repercussion of the Drug Policy are using the issue of spurious drug as tool against him, said Mr. Sham. Urging the media persons to present a balanced picture of every issue, the Minister said that people must know the reality about the issues, especially those connected with the common man. He said the story has been flared up that the supplier of spurious drug is directly or indirectly linked to the Minister; he said and maintained that he does not even recognize the dealers and allegations are totally false and unfounded. He said the Departmental inquiry has been ordered and facts will come out soon. He urged the vested interests to stop attacking his person and mudslinging. Rather, he said, they should wait for the inquiry report. In case the outcome of the inquiry is not satisfactory, the Government can order thorough probe to bring the facts before the public, said the Minister. |
