Man v/s Wild: Three forest employees among four injured by leopard

rajouri, April 19 : A leopard reportedly has stated venturing in Lah village falling under jurisdiction of Police Station Thannamanadi and has injured four persons including three forest department employees. Police said that in the early hours of today an adult leopard entered the village and was spotted by the villagers who reported the wild life officials of their locality. "Following the input about presence of wild cat the wild life officials launched a search operation and around 2.00 pm, the cat was spotted hiding behind the rocks, sources said and added, "however it was forced to come out by some over enthusiast Wild Life Personnel, policemen and locals.' "Thereafter Wild life personnel attempted to tranquilize the leopard and the dart hit it and gave it a short sedation, police sources said. "And as the villagers headed towards the wild cat it became conscious and attacked the people around it and inflicted injuries to Four persons who later were rescued to district hospital, they added.
They said Injured have been identified namely as Mohd Sadiq , forest guard, Mohd Shaqoor driver of DFO, Mohd Shaqir and Mohd Shabir both resident of village Lah. Meanwhile the big cat after inflicting injuries again disappeared in nearby the forest.
Additional police force led by Muzib-ul-Rehaman , SDPO, Z S Mirza , SHO, Thanamandi along with a pack of CRPF personnel now are camping in the village. K Anand , DFO rajouri said that the animal is very active and it already has injured the four persons including three forest employees. "We have used every means to capture the animal, Additional man power has been sent to the village" said DFO
