| DDC Anantnag reviews developmental works | | | ANANTNAG: District Development Commissioner, Anantnag, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone today reviewed the activities of PHE and Sericulture Departments in a meeting of officers held here today. It was given out in the meeting that under IRWDP, 11 schemes have been completed at a cost of Rs. 614.22 lakh providing drinking water facility to 47767 souls while under quality and sustainability project 8 schemes have been completed at a cost of Rs. 277.37 lakh providing drinking water facility to 20216 souls of the district. Besides, 44 schools have been provided with drinking water facility. The meeting was informed that under centrally sponsored catalytic development programme (CDP), 4600 mulberry plants have been distributed among 417 beneficiaries under "mulberry cluster plantation component" and incentive worth Rs. 5.75 lakh have also been provided to the beneficiaries. Under 'Rearing Kit Component', 80 beneficiaries have been provided with rearing kits of Rs. 20 lakhs with a unit cost of Rs. 0.25 lakh. Under RKVY 32000 exotic plants have been distributed among the beneficiaries for plantation. It was given out in the meeting that the department has launched women health insurance scheme under which women folk of the families associated with sericulture industry are provided with insurance cover. The District Development Commissioner was informed that the work on multi facility cum cocoon market at Sarnal Anantnag at a cost of Rs. 60 lakh will be started very soon, which will provide modern market facility for growers and boarding and lodging the silk rearers. Dr. Lone exhorted upon the officers to implement various centrally and state sponsored schemes in letter and spirit for the welfare of the people.
