Verinag to get Ropeway, new spots to be brought on tourism map: Mir

JAMMU: Minister for Tourism has said that tourism potential of Verinag would be explored fully by bringing more potential spots of the area on tourism map adding that a Ropeway would be also constructed at Verinag for attracting more tourists.
The Tourism Minister during his visit to the area interacted with the locals and said that the tourism potential of villages Hongipora, Dudwagan, Batagund, Hajidedi and Ghenigund would be developed by way of developing scenic spots and creation of necessary infrastructure. He said that these villages would be brought on tourism map of the State.
The Minister issued necessary directions to the concerned authorities for formulation of project reports for arranging necessary funds from State and Central plans for taking up these projects well in time. He called upon the people to come forward and take benefits of tourism incentive schemes adding that tourism has much employment avenues and youth should opt this profession, for the purpose the Government would not only provide trainings in hospitality, adventure sports but also easy loans besides incentives upto Rs. 1crore for setting up of units under the sector.
Mir, who is also local representative of Duroo, visited various villages of the Constituency.
He listened to people's problems and developmental needs and issued on the spot instructions to the concerned officers for their immediate redressal. He said development of all the areas is the priority of the Government and assured the people that all their genuine developmental needs would be fulfilled in phased manner.
