| Sagar for early completion of Panchayat Ghars | | | SRINAGAR, May 10 : Minister for Rural Development Panchayati Raj, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar has said that the officers should ensure that the Panchayat Ghars of the Valley should be completed as soon as possible for the augmentation of the infrastructural assets of the Panchayati Raj Institutions. The Minister was addressing officers during a high level review meeting convened to discuss the completion of various Panchayat Ghars in the Srinagar district. Director Rural Development, Mr. Mir Altaf Ahmad and other senior officers of the department were present in the meeting. Mr. Sagar said that the funds have already been earmarked for the construction of panchayat ghars and the officers should work in close coordination with each other in order to ensure their early completion. He said that that the government is committed for upgradation of the infrastructure of the PRIs and in this regard every possible step is being initiated. The Minister said that the Government by putting in place a vibrant Panchayati Raj system has ensured the democratic decentralization of the powers to the grass-root level whereby people have been involved in day to day Governance and implementation of various schemes. He said that the officers should work in close tandem with the Panchayati Raj Representatives, so that the need based development of the rural and far-flung areas is ensured. Mr. Sagar also directed the Director Rural Development to prepare a comprehensive proposal by which the areas lying in the periphery of the Srinagar district can be designated as Blocks of rural development for ensuring their sustained development. He also asked the officers to monitor the construction of the panchayat ghars on weekly basis so that an adequate feedback can be got about the status of their completion. |
