DODA, May 10 : The government is committed to provide all basic facilities to the people living in rural and far flung areas of the state to uplift their living conditions at par with urban areas, stated Minister for PWD (R&B) Mr. Abdul Majid Wani while addressing a mammoth public gathering in Jodhpur, Doda. While inspecting the damage caused by the 5.8 magnitude earthquake that struck the region on 1st of May 2013, Wani said that survey is going on in the entire district at block, tehsil and village level to assess the actual damage caused to quake hit areas. He said said that Chief Minister has already sanctioned Rs. 25 crore for earthquake hit areas for prompt restoration of public services besides announcing three months free ration for the affected families. He said that the government has geared up all its machinery to provide timely relief to the affected families. While addressing the public gathering, Wani reiterated the commitment of the coalition Government headed by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, in providing all basic amenities to the poor people especially living in far flung and backward areas of the state. He added that people in hilly and far flung areas require better road connectivity, healthcare centres, educational institutions, drinking water facility etc. and in this regard various projects have been initiated in the entire state. The people projected various demands which included upgradation of Govt. High School Jodhpur, Primary Healthcare Centre in Jodhpur, augmentation and construction of water supply schemes, assessment of earthquake damages in the area, increase in MGNREGA wages, ownership rights for Shyamlat–e - Deh, improvement in power supply etc. Wani assured the people that all their issues will be taken up with the concerned department and ministry for early redressal. Earlier, Wani inaugurated Satsang Ghar Bhabore and was given a rousing and enthusiastic reception by the people of the Jodhpur area. While speaking on the occasion, Wani appreciated the people of the region for maintaining brotherhood and communal harmony which is prime need for development and upliftment of the area. |
