| DC Sgr asks the traders to desist from selling of fake handicrafts | | | SRINAGAR: To ensure quality control and to curb the sale of duplicate and spurious handicrafts in the name of Kashmiri crafts, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Mr. Farooq Ahmad Shah alongwith Director Handicrafts, Ms. Salma Hamid today convened a meeting with handicrafts retailers of Srinagar district here today. Deputy Commissioner on the occasion stressed upon the retailers and traders to show case quality products in their show rooms to avoid sale of fake handicrafts items. He said for ensuring quality control inspections shall be intensified and the erring dealers were warned to desist from selling fake and machine made handicrafts to tourists in the name of Kashmir handicrafts. On the occasion, a Task Force comprising of District Administration, Police and Handicrafts Officers was constituted to monitor the sale of quality handicrafts and ensure that the products of machine and homemade are tagged separately for their identification. Deputy Commissioner also impressed upon the retailers that they shall ensure the tagging of the handicraft products within a period of 7 days failing which action shall be taken against the erring traders. |
